Ricardo Lemvo & Makina Loca - Retrospectiva 2009

Ricardo Lemvo's sixth album, Retrospectiva, is a look back at a musical career that began in Los Angeles, California in 1990 and flourished to international acclaim. For this collection, Lemvo has updated and improved on some of his greatest hits while remaining faithful to his characteristic blending of Afro-Cuban music with pan-African styles like soukous, rumba, kizomba, and semba. His mainstay "Yiri Yiri Bon" has been repurposed as a Colombian cumbia laced with African guitar licks, and while "Mambo Yo Yo" retains its classic Cuban son montuno origin, it has been enhanced with the mutuashi rhythm of the Luba people of Cental Africa. The Orishas of Africa will be dancing the mambo tonight!
